Myles Heffernan

Myles Heffernan is a licensed acupuncturist holding a Master of Acupuncture with a Chinese Herbal Medicine specialization from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon. He is board-certified through the NCBAHM and licensed to practice acupuncture in Massachusetts. Myles came to Chinese Medicine after years of spiritual seeking, meditation, and energy work. He trained over 2000 hours in VortexHealing, a lineage-based modality working with subtle energy for physical and emotional transformation, before finding in Chinese Medicine a complete system that spoke the same language. At NUNM, he studied under Heiner Fruehauf and Dr. Brandt Stickley, two of the field’s most respected clinicians, deepening his grounding in Classical Chinese Medicine and cultivating a singular love for the craft of acupuncture. Myles grew up spending much of his childhood in the woods, unplugged. That time imprinted a deep trust in the natural world and a sense that we are not separate from it. This is the foundation of how he understands health. Acupuncture, as he understands it, wakes things up rather than shutting them down: it restores sensitivity, awareness, and the body’s own capacity to regulate, instead of numbing or overriding it. At Acupuncture Connections, Myles treats a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, injuries, fatigue, stress, and sleep issues. He has a particular interest in the ways physical symptoms connect to our emotional and psycho-spiritual lives. He brings a calm, grounded presence and a genuine trust in the body’s capacity to heal. When he’s not in the treatment room, you’re likely to find Myles on an adventure in the woods with his two-year-old daughter.
